Lotus Fund and Nova Post are organizing a Run for Light charity race in the dark across 13 European countries.

Charity races will take place from September 24 to October 12 in various cities, including Kyiv, Brussels, London, Berlin, Barcelona, Zurich, Bratislava, Vienna, Vilnius, Milan, Tbilisi, Lund, and more.
Run for Light is a charity flashlight race in support of Ukraine, as the country has lost 50% of its electricity infrastructure due to enemy shelling. Nevertheless, despite the blackouts, Ukrainians continue to stand strong against the enemy.
With 850 participants from thirteen European countries, the race aims to raise half a million hryvnias to purchase energy devices for the Ukrainian military, specifically for the 26th Artillery Brigade and the PARAGON special forces unit of the Main Directorate of Intelligence, as well as medical equipment for the Chernihiv Military Hospital.
«Our team is always looking for new ways to support the military more effectively and engage foreigners and Ukrainians abroad. This is how we initiated our first large-scale campaign in Europe to raise awareness about the ongoing shelling, generate funds for essential equipment for the Ukrainian Defense Forces, and, most importantly, unite against the enemy»
— said Serhii Lysin, co-founder of Lotus Fund, the largest student fund for military-related activities.
A new sound sign developed by Nova Post will be applied to start the race instead of a traditional gun. It aims to recontextualize the sound of a gunshot, which can be traumatizing for individuals with PTSD and veterans. The new starting sound incorporates Ukrainian themes while remaining a contemporary piece. It was tested by veterans and runners under the supervision of neurologists. This project involved sound designers from Los Angeles, psychologists from Harvard, and professors from Kyiv Technical University.
Local project coordinators are in charge of arranging the race regionally. These are Ukrainian activists and organizations located in various European countries that consistently support Ukraine and assist Ukrainians who have been displaced from their homes due to the war. The Ukrainian Youth Group of Lithuania (UYGL), the Ukrainian Youth Council in Slovakia, the Ukrainians Family Community in Berlin, the UaMi Association in Milan, and Defenders Voice in Austria joined the organization of the Run for Light race.
«Nova Post has held 68 running events over the past 9 years, and each one has been of great communication value. There were thousands of participants from all over the world running to support the military, rescuers, and heroes of Ukraine. This year we held the first barrier-free marathon in Ukraine. Therefore, we are delighted to support the Run for Light charity race, which reminds the world once again that the war in Ukraine is still on. Running, caring, and supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine are part of our DNA»
— commented Olena Plakhova, Chief Reputation Officer at Nova Post.
Competitors are required to pay a fixed fee of 550 hryvnias (or 12 euros) to take part in the marathon. Follow the link to sign up for the event, find out race schedules, and learn more about the initiative.
