Parcel customs clearance

  • Parcel cost: up to €45

    There are no additional taxes

  • Parcel cost: €45-150

    VAT: 21% of the shipment cost For example: the item costs €100. The recipient needs to pay additional VAT: €100 x 21% = €21

  • Parcel cost exceeds €150

    • 1
      import duty: up to 17% of the value, depending on the type of item

      VAT: 21% of the value of the shipment (estimated value + import duty)

Calculation example

The goods cost €200. The total customs payments will be:

    import duty = (€200 - €150) × 10% = €5
  • 2
    VAT = (€200 - €150 + €5) × 20% = €11

Total tax charged: €5 + €11 = €16

The customs office is entitled to refuse entry of a postal item into the country or change the customs payment amount

This may occur if a customs officer finds a violation:

    the declared value differs from the actual one

    the parcel contains goods that are not accepted for transportation.
