Customs duties for recipients of parcels from abroad

How customs duties are calculated

The cost of a parcel at customs is calculated based on the invoice value of the parcel and the cost of delivery.

Up to €45 No customs duties are charged
Over €45 to €15021% VAT*
Over €150VAT 21%*
Import duty: from 0% to 10%**

If the cost of the parcel exceeds €150, the parcel will only be cleared through customs after receiving your consent. If the recipient refuses to clear the parcel through customs, we will return it to the sender.

* VAT is charged on the value of the goods plus the cost of delivery. In some cases, other fees may apply (e.g., customs processing)

** The import duty is calculated for each item on the invoice.

Calculation and payment of customs duties

Payment of customs duties is mandatory for receiving a parcel

    If customs duties are calculated for a parcel, we will notify the recipient after the parcel has been shipped.

    When customs charges are assessed, the recipient will receive a notification in the mobile app about the amount of customs duties.

We will also send a letter to the recipient's mail address and an SMS message to their phone number. The recipient's contact details provided when the parcel was sent will be used for notification purposes.

For parcels delivered to a post office or pickup point, only online payment in the app is possible.

How to pay customs fees in the Nova Post app

Once customs fees have been calculated, the payment option will appear in the app in the “Package Information” section.
